Kazuhiro Iwasa and Chika Nagisa perform Blue at Wiz Hall, Tokyo on July 8, 2011.
There are some life experiences which are not describable or explainable in words. The grief we all feel at the death of innocent people in war is one of them. Bruce Stark, with the quiet questioning of Blue, has luminously translated that grieving into music. I have felt honored to be his interpreter.

- Paula Robison, flutist

Blue was recorded by Kaori Fujii and Yuko Fujii as part of American Suite on Muse, available on-line at Centaur's website

Program notes for Blue (for use when programmed separately):

I composed Blue in 2001 as part of American Suite, written for and premiered by the Kaori and Yuko Fujii duo in Tokyo. However, shortly after its completion the tragic events of 9/11 transpired, and the piece took on a different meaning for me, as a song of mourning. The feedback and encouragement of flutist Paula Robison prompted me to also publish the work as an independent composition.

I dedicate Blue to the people of all nations whose lives are lost in terrorism or war, and to their loved ones.
