This Christmas Carol is a playful bit of fun, as the composer pokes fun at himself with lyrics which describe a poorly written carol that has been replaced by a more singable one at a family reunion, combined with good Christmas cheer. |
This Christmas carol is something we can sing
Easy, easy, it's really singable
And we sing, joyfully, celebrating Christmas
Together, for the first time in a long time
It's such a rare occasion
Our family, it never can stay in one location
This is a historic congregation
So bring out this carol, and sing out:
Fa-la-la . . . It's such an easy carol!
Fa-la-la . . .
Love to you, big and small
Merry Christmas one and all!
Last Christmas carol, we couldn't sing at all
We tried hard . . . it was impossible
And we felt terrible, 'cause we couldn't sing it
Dear Bruce, you're a good guy, not a bad guy
But when you wrote that carol
We think that you did not compose a masterpiece and
We hope you agree with a suggestion
To throw out the bad one, and sing out:
Fa-la-la . . . It's such an easy carol!
Fa-la-la . . .
Love to you, big and small
Merry Christmas one and all!
