Bruce Stark’s arrangement of the iconic jazz classic Take Five (composed by Paul Desmond and made famous in a recording by the Dave Brubeck Quartet) is a blend of classical pianistic texture and the jazz aesthetic. It is fitting as a recital piece for advanced players.

The music incorporates introductory passages, interludes, a “solo” in improvisational style, and moves through a variety of pianistic textures, from rhythmically aggressive to sustained and quiet.
