Ancient Presence (2015) was composed for John Barcellona, who premiered it at the National Flute Association Convention in 2016. Owing to its being written with the Native American flute in mind, it also lends itself well to a performance by western flute, offering a lyrical and atmospheric piece inspired by Native American cultures. The music is of intermediate difficulty and explores the lower and middle register.
